Q: Can you share details about your childhood, including your upbringing and educational background?


A: My childhood was filled with joy, despite having a strict father who instilled discipline in me. The neighborhood I grew up in was a close-knit community, where love and support flourished among the neighbors, creating a safe haven for all of us. I excelled academically, consistently earning top grades, and I was particularly proud of my achievements in spelling bees. Additionally, I was a standout track runner, relishing the thrill of competition and the camaraderie that came with it.


Q: How did your family shape your early development and influence your growth?


A: Embracing accountability for my choices stems from clear understanding of right and wrong. I prioritize treating others with respect, ensuring punctuality, and recognizing the importance of both time and money. My commitment to lifelong learning drives me to become more streetwise, allowing me to navigate the world effectively. Each day presents an opportunity of personal growth, where I strive to appreciate my own worth and remain observant of the lessons life has to offer.


Q: What initial fears did you experience before performing your poetry on stage?


A: The sensation of fear gripped as a performer, but yet the audience responded with overwhelming warmth and enthusiasm, showering me with love and encouragement. The cheers resonated through the air, transforming the initial trepidation into a wave of support that enveloped the me, creating an electrifying atmosphere where anxiety was replaced by a sense of belonging and appreciation.


Q: What advice would you give to other poets who are struggling with performance anxiety?


A: Embrace the opportunity to showcase your abilities without hesitation, as it is our own fears that often restrain us. If we allow anxiety to dictate our actions, we will miss out on the chance to reveal our true potential and talents to the world.


Q: How has performing your poetry on stage impacted your personal growth as a poet?


A: Be boldly and expressive.


Q: What has been the most rewarding part of overcoming your stage fright and performing your poetry?


A: Embrace your freedom, allowing your true self to shine through with vibrant expression, while cultivating a sense of tranquility within.


Q: What advice would you give to emerging poets who are trying to establish their presence in the literary world?  


A: To cultivate a following. immerse yourself in social media platforms where you can share your voice and connect with like-minded individuals. Additionally, seize opportunities to showcase your talent by participating in poetry events within your community, allowing you to engage with an audience that appreciates the art form and potentially expand my reach.


Q: What do you consider to be your most significant achievement in your poetry career so far?


A: There’s something truly exhilarating about taking the stage before an audience that radiates beauty and warmth, their supportive energy enveloping me like a comforting embrace. The sight of their smiling faces, eager to engage and connect, creates an atmosphere that is both inspiring and upliftings. Each cheer and nod of encouragement fuels my performance, transforming the experience into a shared celebration of art and expression. In such moments, the connection between me being the performer and the audience becomes palpable, igniting a spark that elevates the entire experience to new heights.


Q: How do you see your poetry career evolving over the next five years?  


A: Limitless possibilities!


Q: What are your future goals or aspirations as a poet?


A: Completing my education as a holistic practitioner and earning a master’s degree in business has equipped me with a unique skill set. My goal is to facilitate healing for individuals by integrating the transformative power of poetry, the essence of love, and comprehensive holistic care into my practice. This blend not only nurtures the mind and spirit but also fosters a deeper connection with those I aim to support, allowing for a more profound healing experience.
